Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway asks for November 5th race date
Promoter Bobby Hamilton, Jr. said he is seeking the Tennessee State Fairboard’s permission to hold a race on Saturday November 5th at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
According to Hamilton the event will include the divisions that normally compete at the historic track with the possibility of adding one or two more series to the race’s roster.
“We have to get permission from Director Buck Dozier, the Fairboard and touch base with the neighborhood group since this will serve as a make up race for what would have been the All American 400 weekend,” Hamilton said. “Since this will be a Saturday only event, we are hopeful everyone will be agreeable. We should know something very soon. If that date can’t be worked out, we will look at another. We want have our divisional champions recognized and induct several new members into the Speedway’s Hall of Fame.”
According to an earlier post on the Fairground Speedway’s Facebook page “a specific date has not been released because it has not been approved. We have to have approval from multiple sources like the fair board, neighborhood group, etc before we can race. So we chose not to put a date out there that potentially could be changed.”
Hamilton said he chose to announce the possible date after all in order to give fans and race participants “some sort of time frame”.
Addressing the All American 400 issue, Hamilton said it was a business decision as well as a timing matter to not bring the CRA Super Late Models to the event.
“The CRA is a great organization, but in the final analysis it was cost prohibitive for us this year,” he said, “Hopefully we can get an event with the CRA worked out for next season.
