New Owners set Riverview Speedway reopening for March 1

By Terrell Davis

Riverview Speedway is definitely back in action, according to Bo Hall, who, along with his brother, Arty, say they are the speedway’s new owners.

Bo Hall told MTRN that the deal was signed on Friday and work has already begun on the upcoming racing season.

“We will have a drivers meeting on January 19 at the track,” Hall said. “We will open the gates at around 12 noon and try to have the meeting around 2 o’clock. Right now we are seeking ideas and advice on what drivers want because we want this track to be very driver friendly.”

Hall said the track closed over two years ago and will need to have some work done on it. He noted that the work would not delay opening day.

“We plan on having a media day and kind of a parade day beginning at 10 AM on March 1st,” he said. “We will allow some practice so the drivers can shake down their cars.’

Plans for nine divisions are being formulated with a straight rail crate motor late model series heading the list of divisions. Plans currently also call for an outlaw sportsman division as well as a 6-cylinder division.

“This is the fastest quarter-mile track in America,” the new owner said. “And we want to keep it that way, so the sportsman division won’t be any motor restrictions. We’ll also run open wheel modifieds. We will announce more details about the different divisions in the near future, but I can say that they’ll be relatively standard divisions that are run at other area tracks.”

Hall said that a web site is under construction and should be available soon.

“There is a lot to be done, but we are certainly looking forward to reopening Riverview and making it better than ever for our drivers and fans,” Hall said.
