The List of First Time Winners Continues to Grow at the Music City Motorplex with Michael House Picking Up the NASCAR Late Model Victory

NASHVILLE, TN – The list of first time winners continues to grow at the Music City Motorplex in its 50th Anniversary Season in both the NASCAR Late Models and the NASCAR Super Trucks.  Late Model Rookie of the Year contender and 2007 NASCAR Grand National Champion, Michael House added his name to the list of first time winners on Dollar General Night Saturday, May 10.

Michael Driskell and Skip McCord brought the NASCAR Late Models down for the drop of the green flag for their fifty lap feature event.  Driskell held onto the lead though lap seven when Michael House began to challenge for the position.  House took over the lead one lap later with Driskell holding onto second, Dillon Oliver third, McCord fourth and Andy Johnson fifth.  By lap thirteen, House had pulled out to nearly a three second advantage over the field.  Ronnie Campbell spun exiting turn four on lap thirty-nine bringing out the only caution of the night and closing the field right back to House’s rear bumper.  House held on to take his first career Late Model victory followed by Oliver, Johnson, Willie Allen and Mark Day.

The NASCAR Super Trucks were brought to the green flag by Daniel Bolden and Kyle Fletcher, but rain fall brought the field to a stop on pit road.  After a short delay, the rain stopped and the racing got back underway.  Fletcher remained out front with Bolden, Daniel Victory, Bobby Buttrey and Jess Williams close behind.  Fletcher, Bolden, Victory and Buttrey ran nose to tail for twenty straight laps until lap thirty-one when Victory dove to the inside of Bolden and Fletcher, making it three wide entering turn one.  Fletcher came out on top with Victory taking over the second spot.  Fletcher held on to claim his first career Super Truck win followed by Victory, Bolden, Buttrey and Blake Williams.

Jeff Belt and Eddie Taylor started on the front row for the start of the NASCAR Grand National thirty lap feature.  Taylor pulled out to the lead and Belt was forced to pit road with a tire problem.  By lap three, Wayne White had caught Taylor and began challenging for the lead.  White took over the top spot on lap four and immediately began to pull away from the field.  Taylor remained in second with Lee Goddard, Howard Tucker and Jonathan Wilhite close behind.  Wilhite brought out the only caution of the event for a spin in turn two.  On the restart, White remained out front, but the field stayed right on his bumper.  White held off the field to take his fifth straight win followed by Goddard, Taylor, Tucker and Michael Crow.

The always exciting Thunderstox were started by Danny Wilkerson and Taylor Ryman.  Wilkerson took over the top spot and did not look back.  Dale Travis and Ryman were battling for the second position when the two cars got together sending Travis spinning off turn four and Ryman making contact with the wall, but racing action continued.  Wilkerson crossed the finish first, but during post race inspection, Wilkerson’s car was disqualified as was the second place car of Joshua Hood.  Matt Barnes picked up the win followed by Travis, Charles Goddard Jr, Ryman and Jeremy Newman.

Kenny Summers and Chris Wilson brought the Legend Pro/Masters down to the green flag for their twenty lap feature.  Summers held off Wilson for the lead, but he could not hold off David Moyes III.  Moyes took over the top spot on lap two followed by James Fowlkes, Rob Sanders, Tyler Slayden and Josh Berry.  Berry spun on lap nine to bring out the first caution of the night.  Fowlkes and Slayden got together on lap fourteen sending Fowlkes spinning.  Moyes picked up the win followed by Wilson, Kevin Rollins, Berry and Fowlkes.

Giles Martin and Mike Curran brought the Legend Semi Pro field to the green flag.  Martin held the lead until lap ten when Brandon Summers took over the top spot, but Martin battled right back to regain the lead.  Martin, Summers and Cody Fernett went three wide into turn one with Fernett coming out in first.  Fernett remained out front till the checkereds, taking the win followed by Summers, Martin, AJ Carlisi and Curran.

The Bandoleros returned to the Motorplex Saturday Night and Mason Massey continued right where he left off in the Bandits division.  Massey led flag to flag to pick up his third win in as many starts followed by Layne Clifton, Zach McLean and Redd Hatchett.  Sean Hosey picked up his first Young Gun victory of 2008 followed by Larua Gentry and Blake Jones.

Racing action at the Music City Motorplex will continue Saturday, May 24 with the NASCAR Late Models, Super Trucks, Grand Nationals, Thunderstox, Legends, Bandoleros and Dwarf Cars.  Qualifying starts at 4:30 with racing getting underway at 6:30.  Tickets are available at all Ticket Master locations or online at www.TicketMaster.com.  More information is available by calling the Motorplex office at (615) 726-1818 or online at www.MusicCityMotorplex.com.
