Double Points Meant Double
the Racing Action June 8 at the
Daniel
Victory and Jess Williams lead the NASCAR T-Mobile Super Trucks down to take
the first green flag of the night. The two battled door
to door for the first six laps until Victory pulled ahead.
Victory and fast qualifier Ronnie Campbell began to pull away from
the field before the first caution of the night fell when Jason Adams spun
exiting turn four.
Four time winner Mark Day found himself in the top position at the drop of the green for the NASCAR DryGDSI.com Late Models, but Andy Johnson did not let him pull away. The two battled door to door and bumper to bumper for the first thirty laps until Day began pull away. Fast qualifier Michael Driskell, Josh Weston, Josh Adams and Daniel Pope traded positions lap after lap for third on back. Day took the win followed by Johnson, Driskell, Weston and Adams.
Once again the best race of the night was the NASCAR Grand National Sportsman. Lee Goddard and Middle Tennessee Racing News fast qualifier Michael House led the field down to take the green flag of the special forty lap feature. House jumped out in front, but the man to watch was Keith Krantz. Krantz made his way up to the second position from his twenty-first starting position by the halfway break. House held onto the lead on the restart with Krantz on his rear bumper. The two pulled out to a three second lead over Goddard, Eddie Taylor and Derrick Johnson by lap twenty four. Krantz made his way around House shortly after and held on to take his first win of 2007. House finished second followed by Goddard, Wayne White and Taylor.
On Sunday June 10, the ¼ mile divisions hit the track for Sunday Family Funday action featuring the Legends, Bandoleros, Thunderstox, Mini Cups, Baby Grands, Dwarfs and Hornets.
The Mini Cup Future Stars and Open were first to hit the track. Taylor Webb held off a hard charging Kyle Baugh to take the Future Star win with Joey Greening third, Cody Fredricks fourth and Alec Webb fifth. Kevin Henderson dominated the Open division and took the win followed by Joe McCloud.
The beatin' and bangin' Thunderstox lived up to every expectation beginning at the drop of the green flag. The entire field went three and four wide lap after lap. Kyle Ivey came out on top for the third time in 2007 followed by Clint Carter, John Waldron, Charles Goddard Jr and Charles Goddard Sr.
David Moyes took the Legend Pro win. On the first lap Tyler Slayden got turned entering turn one collecting Greg Spencer, Ten-A-C Slatton and Kevin Riggs. Moyes crossed the checkered first followed by James Fowlkes, Chris Wilson, Tyler Cordell and Bobby Buttrey. Kenny Summers took the Master’s win followed by Ten-A-C Slatton and Spencer.
Josh Berry
came out on top of the caution filled Legend Semi Pro race.
Several caution periods slowed the field numerous times throughout
the race, but
Mason Massey
continued his dominance in the Bandolero Bandits. Massey
jumped out in front and never looked back. Blake Jones
finished second followed by Sean Hosey,
Chad Finchum took his first Bandolero Young Gun win of 2007 followed by a hard charging Brandon Nelson. Point’s leader Scott Hensley finished third, Tyler Mullins fourth and Laura Gentry rounded out the top five.
Keith Kaylor
made a late race pass to take the first Hornet victory of 2007.
Kaylor made his pass around Michael Rittenberry who finished second
with Kenneth Vetetoe third, Rick
Young Kenneth Mayfield held off Mary Daniels and Chelsie Roe to take the first Baby Grand Jr Pro victory. Jacob France dominated the Baby Grand Pro division and took the win followed by Chris Willis, Pete Neimeier, Tim Fisher and Kenneth Mayfield.
Ricky McIllwain closed the ground on Allen Ring in the point’s standings by taking the win in the Dwarf Cars. Ring finished second, Rick Webster third, David Ring fourth and Terry Lund fifth.
Racing resumes Saturday June 16 at the Motorplex for Jeff Diamond Night with the NASCAR DryGDSI.com Late Models, NASCAR T-Mobile Super Trucks and the NASCAR Grand National Sportsman all on the fast 5/8 mile high banked oval. The Thunderstox, Legends, Dwarfs and Hornets will all be beatin’ and bangin’ on the ¼ mile track. Qualifying starts at 4:30 and racing at 6:30.
