Josh Adams Holds Off NASCAR Late Model Field, Earning His Second Win of 2007

NASHVILLE, TN – Josh Adams may have only earned his second victory of 2007 Friday Night at the Music City Motorplex in the DryGDSI.com NASCAR Late Models, but Adams made it his second win on a double points dollar night, further extending his chase for the Championship.

Adams and Mark Day lead the field down to take the green flag for their special sixty lap feature with a halfway break.  Adams pulled ahead of Day at the green with Michael Driskell, David Shacklett II and Blake Williams all close behind.  Point’s contender, Josh Weston and Mike Murray got together on lap four sending both cars hard into the outside wall of turn three bringing out a caution.  Both Weston and Murray were unable to rejoin the field but fortunately walked away unhurt.  Adams led the way with Day and Driskell on his rear bumper until the halfway break.  Once the field got back underway, Adams, Day and Driskell remained out front with Shacklett and Steadman Marlin battling for the fourth position.  On lap fifty-one, Day drifted high exiting turn two brushing the wall.  Driskell took full advantage of the situation and got around Day for the second spot.  Adams held on to take his second double point’s win of 2007.  Unfortunately Driskell failed post race inspection, falling to the rear of the field.  Day finished second followed by Marlin, Shacklett and Williams.

The T-Mobile NASCAR Super Truck feature had door to door, wheel to wheel non-stop action from flag to flag.  Jess Williams and Daniel Victory took the green flag for the start of the race.  John Earheart and Josh Mullins got together on lap three sending both trucks spinning in turn two.  Current point’s leader, Ricky Bolden got tangled-up trying to avoid the accident spinning into Earheart.  Bolden suffered heavy damage but was able to continue.  On the restart Victory lead the way, but hard charging Ronnie Campbell was climbing through the field.  Campbell took over the top spot from Victory on lap twenty-five with Victory and Kyle Fletcher right in his tire tracks.  Terry Hayes brought out a caution on lap twenty-seven for his spin in turn two.  Victory took back over the top spot from Campbell on the restart.  With only five laps remaining, Campbell began to look high and low for a way around Victory.  The two trucks got side by side on the white flag lap and the two beat and banged all the way to the checkereds with Victory crossing the stripe first.  Victory took his second win of 2007 followed by Campbell, Fletcher, Josh Mullins and Williams.

Michael House and Derrick Johnson brought the NASCAR Grand National Sportsman down for the green flag.  Johnson immediately jumped out to the lead.  Jeffery Belt made his way around House taking over the second position on lap five and set his sites on Johnson.  Belt got around Johnson on lap seven just before a caution fell for a spin by Vince Madden in turn two.  Belt led the way on the restart and all the way to the checkereds.  Belt picked up his second win of 2007 followed by Johnson, House, Howard Tucker and Lee Goddard.

Sunday August 12 was the third and final Family Funday at the Motorplex topped off with an exciting Thunderstox race.  Kyle Ivey and Cory Jones brought the field down to the green flag, but Jones and Stephanie Barnes both spun entering turn one bringing out the caution.  Kyle Ivey and brother Clint began to battle back and forth for the top spot on the restart with William Mullen right behind them.  Clint pulled ahead as the leader but Kyle did not give up and the two raced side by side all the way to checkereds with Clint taking the win.  Kyle finished second followed by Mullen, Clint Carter and William Coats.

Legend Semi Pro points leader, Josh Berry suffered mechanical problems after completing just one lap for the feature event.  Brandon Summers and Dylan Ames ran first and second, but Ames took over the lead on lap six with Logan Ruffin close behind.  Ruffin made several attempts on Ames and finally got under him coming to the checkereds but spun out trying to complete the pass for the lead.  Ames took the win followed by Summers, Giles Martin, Larry Bowser and Cody Fernett.

The Legend Pro/Master feature got started by Bobby Buttrey and Kevin Rollins taking the green flag.  Buttrey led the way with the entire field bumper to bumper behind him.  Tyler Cordell took over the lead on lap five just before a caution fell for Rob Sander’s spin in turn four.  Cordell lead all the way to the checkereds with Rollins finishing second, Tyler Slayden third, Buttrey fourth and James Fowlkes fifth.

Davey Matthews returned to victory lane in the Bandolero Bandits followed by Blake Jones, Zachary McLean, Mason Massey and Sean Hosey.  Scott Hensley also returned to victory lane in the Bandolero Young Guns followed by Larua Gentry and Tyler Mullins.

Allen Ring led flag to flag in the Dwarf cars, taking his third win of 2007 followed by Ricky McIllwain, Rick Webster, David Ring and Robert Whitley.

Cody Fredricks out wheeled Edwin White to take the win in the Mini Cup Future Stars with Kevin Henderson taking the win in the Mini Cup Open with David Henderson a close second.

Gary Davis picked up his first win in the Hornet division barely beating Kenny Vetetoe to the line.
